Defined by brutal offensive techniques and quick counter-attacks, Krav Maga is the ideal self-defense fighting style for unexpected and dangerous situations. A focus on results without rules of fair fighting means Krav Maga is not a martial art, but a revolutionary self-defense system— no katas, no rituals.
Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, our Krav Maga self-defense classes are intended to teach methods exceptionally effective for personal protection in the shortest possible time. Attend our Krav Maga classes to learn how to defend against violent chokes, grabs, and strikes, as well as serious threats armed with weapons.
1. A brief warmup to build strength and conditioning.
2. Learn and utilize combatives such as punches, kicks, elbows, and knees.
3. Practice defenses against common chokes, headlocks, and strikes.
4. Put everything together in a stress drill designed to test your understanding of the techniques under pressure.
We do not use any forms or katas in class. We get hands-on and work the techniques with a training partner who is there to help you grow and push your limits. Along with our training methodology, we focus on developing a fight mentality to help avoid the “freeze” that is common for those who find themselves in a violent encounter.
Putting this all together in every class is how we effectively develop the muscle memory and mindset needed to survive a real-world attack. Our certified instructors are there to provide guidance, individual feedback, and a safe training environment for our students.
Erik is the Chief Instructor of Krav Maga Dallas and is certified by the Krav Maga Association of America as a Second Degree Black Belt Instructor. As well, Erik is a certified Force Training Instructor and enjoys teaching our military and law enforcement personnel. He is also the lead instructor of Krav Maga Dallas’s Youth Program and is a certified personal trainer.
Erik took his first Krav Maga class in 2000 and has been hooked ever since. Quickly gravitating toward Krav Maga’s natural movements and it’s physical and efficient style, Erik was bitten by the teaching bug almost immediately and traveled to Los Angeles to receive his first certification in 2002. In 2004, he purchased the school and Krav Maga Plano was born. Over the next several years, Erik continued his training and received his Expert I/Blue Belt Instructor Certification. In 2007, life took a small detour and Erik entered the world of restauranteur, owning and operating a chain of local sandwich shops. While he enjoyed the experience and excitement of the food industry, it limited his time to train and took him away from his true passion which is teaching Krav Maga. After working more than 15 years in marketing and a 5 year stint as a “sandwich mogul”, Erik took the leap of faith to focus all of his time, attention, and resources to help his community and students live safer, healthier, and better lives as the full-time, chief instructor at Krav Maga Dallas.
Outside of teaching and training, Erik enjoys hiking, camping and spending time with family, friends, and the countless students he has had the privilege of coaching for over 2 decades.
After seeing the National Geographic Fight Science episode he decided to take a trial class and was instantly hooked. He has a passion for training and after a few years, decided he wanted to share Krav Maga with others and began his instructor journey in 2013. In addition to his Krav Maga certifications, he has also obtained his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
His most important role is a husband to his wife Megan and father to their two children. He holds a BS in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University. He has spent 20 years in sales with the last 12 in a management role. Matt is also an active member of the First Baptist Church in McKinney, TX.
Becky began her martial arts journey over 20 years ago, studying a variety of styles including Tang Soo Do (3rd Degree Black Belt), Tae Kwon Do (Brown Belt), and Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. In 2003, she took her martial arts journey to the next level and became a martial arts instructor for both children and adults. When she stumbled upon Krav Maga in 2011, she was immediately drawn to the Krav training for its effectiveness and straightforward approach to real-world situations.
In addition to her love for Krav Maga, Becky also has a passion for the software industry, earning 2 MBAs from UNT (one in Business Computer Information Systems and one in Management) and later earned a Post-Bacc degree in Psychology. She currently works as the Chief Operating Officer for a software consulting company in Irving.
